Driving Left of Center
I was reading a referral packet on a youth who needs treatment. One of the legal charges was titled "Driving Left of Center". This was a new term for me so I had to ask around and find out what it meant. I learned that it means exactly what it says. This young man was caught driving a vehicle on the wrong side of the road. It's not that he was simply off the beaten trail but rather he was headed into oncoming traffic. Now, to be completely honest I have, a few times, turned onto a one-way street headed the wrong direction, but I quickly realized and corrected it. This young man was so far down the wrong way that he was legally charged with "Driving Left of Center". The more I thought about this I realize that we often do this with our relationship with God. Sometimes God has given me direction and I've gone the wrong way. Jonah is a prime example of this. Thankfully God is always calling us back to his road but sometimes we are stubborn and ignore the call. The reality is that some people will get to the gates of heaven and will be charged with "Driving Left of Center". I think I'll try harder to stay in God's will because I know it's what's best for me and when God show me that I'm headed the wrong way, I pray that I'll listen better and drive right of center.
